After writing four crime thrillers, when Covid 19 closed my local tennis courts and leisure centre I used the lockdown to change the genre of my books to humour. With so much free time I wrote three books in a new humorous series, beginning with Senior Singles.
Personal experience with bereavement, work, family, friends and travel provided the material and after choosing a Yorkshire location and introducing the main characters I found it really satisfying to write about ordinary people having fun and enjoying life instead of describing those involved with murder and mayhem.
The main characters move on through all the books and as they became familiar it was easy to feel part of the community and imagine joining in their hilarious activities. Real life is never problem free and as well as providing stories to bring a chuckle, or two, inevitably there will also be sadness and drama. All is well which ends well and most of the characters will continue to entertain as they live their lives on the Fairfields estate in Yorkshire. Meantime, it will remain my pleasure to join with my characters and tell their stories as they try new activities, find partners, have babies and enjoy weekend breaks, or overseas travel
